What Are NFTs?

Metaverse, a digital world you enter using a VR headset, is poised to become a whole new way of interpreting reality. Through your Metaverse avatar, you can buy virtual properties, interact with other users, and roam as you would in real life, albeit only on the surface level. This level of interaction implies the possibility of visiting casinos in Metaverse, where you are expected to stake something to play those games. Your stake could be NFTs. For example, one of the first Metaverse casino projects, Flamingo Casino Club, got cease-and-desist orders from regulators in five US states based on fraudulent use of the NFTs. They claimed a connection to the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel and Casino, which turned out to be false and promised users passive income from the casino revenue should they buy certain NFTs, which is against the law. The possibilities of NFT in Metaverse casino projects are endless, but they still face legal obstacles on that road. How will these casinos be regulated and controlled? What would be the point of using NFTs to bet anonymously since regulated casinos require players to pass KYC checks? Still, with wider acceptance of NFTs in the industry, legal frameworks will be established and pave the way for safe and legal use of digital assets in online casino gambling.
